hi all,
i fitted slotted disc's to my EL and i thought it would be a good idea to chrome the visible part of the caliper, is this going to harm my brakes ? i have been plating for only a few weeks so dont have a clue of what could happen. cheers, before after |

looks alright, i dont like polishing or painting the calipers on the e series, as it makes you realise and shows off how small the brakes really are..lol.
oh btw, your slotted disks are on the wrong way.. |

Saying that, The latest model fords only have one part number for the front rotors, one face forwards the other backwards, they say it makes no difference, but I'm sure the $ sign denotes that.

just take them off and swap what side they are on and the slots will angle toward the back of the car

its funny that the pics above contadicts whats marked on my rotors?
but above mainly refers to the direction of the internal veins not so much the slot direction..?? they look like rda rotors? , rda have there rotors marked left and right, oh well i guess it dont really matter.. |

It actually has no efect on the operation of the rotor which ever was they are fitted unless the internal vanes are directional.

Interesting,
DBA states the opposite. http://www.dba.com.au/node/5546 I guess its all in the layout of the flutes in the cooling fins inside or vanes as mentioned above. Either way you get the same amount of pad vs disc contact, I just prefer debris being forced out via centrifugal forces to the outside. whereas the otherway tries to direct dirt towards the hub while rotating. meh..

the vains on my disc are striagh up and down they dont slant at all so as for cooling its not goint to make a difference. as for the slot direction; the instrtuctions i got with the discs didnt say anything so i looked it up and most i found seem to tilt the way i have them, i tried calling the company i bought them from and no reply yet, if they get back to me i post what their answer is.

The chrome caliper looks awesome! I have heard that a mirror-polished surface loses heat more slowly than a rough-cast surface. Makes sense I guess, as it has less surface area. In theory at least, your brakes could fade faster as they would cool down less between stops. The difference could be the square root of two fifths of nothing though.
