Ok on the highway all of a sudden my car developed a fairly loud clunking sound. Even the slightest bumps in the road set the noise off.
At first i thought it was maybe an exhuast mount came off, but when i jacked the rear wheel off the ground, you shake the wheel and a similar clunk can be heard even with no visible wheel movment. Anyone got any ideas on what it could be and how much to fix? Today's Sunday and im not sure how long its gonna take for someone to look at it and not sure if i should even be driving it like it is.... Axle end play?
Caliper slapping? Shocks? Control arm/s bushes? Watts link bushes? theres heaps that can make it go clunk.

All the bushes look fine, i had pedders check over it a couple weeks ago too.
I recently replace the rear shocks hoping it would fix a 'squeek' that would occur over bumps...... now it doesnt squeek but rather a huge clunk, would bearings have anything to do with this problem? |

BA onwards use CV's on the rear and on the half shafts if fitted with IRS, all RWD Fords use universal joints as well... The clunk could be from shocks (top rubbers not fitted correctly and lower bolt loose), upper or lower control arms, watts link bushes to name a few. |

Thanks for the advice guys, car is getting looked at today.
I hope its not the shocks, as it seemed pretty straight forward fitting the bump stop, rubbers etc. |
