Fitted a new clutch cable recently and today I mucked around with fitting it so that it doesn't run through the tight bends as fitted originally.
Instead of running the cable under the steering joint, along the back of the rack and into the bell-housing and clutch fork, I ran it the other side of the steering joint, over the k-frame and under the engine, then back through into the bell-housing. Feels so much lighter and less notchy through the clutch pedal now. Also drilled a hole and made a new clutch cable clip in the middle of the k-frame just under the sump so the cable won't hang down. Hopefully by doing this the cable will last a little longer too. Don't know if this will help any-one with a heavy clutch pedal in their car but it wouldn't hurt to try, like I did |
