Don't want to burst a bubble but keep an eye on your clutch pedal pivot rod, and firewall where the cable goes through (check my thread for details) especially if you got a heavy duty clutch.

WILDEB wrote: pedal box has already been strengthened and i have a local engineer making me a firewall plate i was going to say get the pedal box beefed up, and with the fire wall its not uncommen to crack and break through. on XD-XE models they run a plate which is bolted to the firewall, on XF to XH/EA-EL they have a tube welded in by the factory.

Re-reading the earlier posts, I have to agree that concern about the inner cable sawing sideways is absolutely spot on - without that bracket holding it straight in, then it needs to be watched real close for trying to cut sideways - if it doesn't seem to be doing it (YET) then have a second look and then keep watching it. The white stuff (teflon?) on the inner cable is fecking tough s**t and will cut through just about anything!! The outer sheath is evidently lined internally with the same material but I'm not sure it reaches right to the outer edge (I've had issues at the other end with that when I first did my firewall reinforcement). The bracket I'm talking about IS that support bracket - ie. on the other side in relation to the column side - I perhaps wasn't real clear. Yes - 2 foot is actually way too much - it'd be more like 4 or 5 inches - and for that reason I was indeed going to fit a new later model cable when I fitted my new heavily beefed up pedal box (body broke out in rust so I pensioned the car off before fitting up the new gear).
