Been trying to adjust the clutch today. Reason being, was that it was picking up about 1cm from the carpet, meaning that you really had to force the clutch pedal down to stop it from slightly engaging at trafic lights etc. The problem is though, when the cletch is set so that all three pedals are in line, the clutch wont fully engage, and when it is set so that there is a couple of cm travel before engaging, when fully released, it sits about 4 cm above the other pedals, and the clutch arm seems to rattle, meaning that a small amount of pressure needs to be kept on the pedal to eliminate this. Also, in this position, when flooring it in second, without slight pressure on the pedal, a really bad vibration/noise comes from the gear box. Any suggestions??

Check your pedal box it may be cracked or the firewall might be cracked.
Ad for vibrations possibly the thrust bearing as nico95 said. |

Hate to drag this one back up but it seems I have the same problem now I have an aftermarket clutch.
There is a rattle now and the pedal sits 16cm from the floor and the manual recommends only 14cm. Is there anyway to adjust this? |

did you get the flywheel machined?
if the flywheel has had a fair bit taken off it you will get different amount of travel needed to disengage the clutch. as once the flywheel has been machined the clutch.pressure plate is now slightly further away from the thrust bearing. which changes the geometry of the throw out ratio.. this can also be caused from after market clutch and pressure plate tolerance differences. remember a tiny amount of difference in the clutch/pressure plate/flywheel thickness will make a huge difference at the pedal hope that makes sense.. |

Its a brand new Yella Terra flywheel fitted at the same time as the clutch.

Is there anyway to adjust this? Are you measuring from the FACE of the pedal in the 'engaged' and 'disengaged' positions? You are looking for 14cm distance in TRAVEL, not 14cm from face of pedal to the carpet as ive read a few times on this site If it still needs adjusting, then it can be done at the firewall by turning the nut on the cable..... tightening the nut brings the pedal higher, and releasing it brings the pedal lower |

vibration can also be caused by the a difference in the clutch finger heights.
its a hard one to measure as you need a dial indicator and need to know how to use on correctly, and u need a tool to bend the fingers without breaking them. i think about 0.5mm is within spec

That measurement was taken from the rear of the pedal to the carpet and was 16cm.
The rattle I have now figured out what it is. Its the dust cover for the cable to the fork. The spring clips are bent in and no longer hold the cover tight against the housing. Also it looks like it needs a new gasket as the other has burnt away or disintegrated. That 14cm thing is written in the Ford Factory Manual from the pedal to the carpet not the travel. |

Well yes thats pretty close to what i was saying, , as long as when you measure to the carpet, that you measure exactly where the pedal touches Quote: That 14cm thing is written in the Ford Factory Manual from the pedal to the carpet not the travel.
regardless of what it says, essentially you are looking for distance of pedal travel, not measuring the pedal height from the floor for the sake of it

ok well im usin a flywheel that has been machined a few times with a aftermarket clutch and i also have the same issue with the clutch pedal a fair bit higher than the others but im getting use to it now .. |

i assume you have adjusted the pedal down to check operation, and it wasnt enough?
gotta be careful of over adjustment |

OK then. I'll set it where it was at 16cm again and live with it.
