I'm using an EA flywheel and clutch (3 bolt setup) and after installing it, it was fine for a week. Slowly over a day or two it started to shudder and got so bad that it simply was almost impossible to take off without chirping the rear wheels because of excessive shudder. I initially thought a bolt fell out of the pressure plate but thats not the case, someone suggested there might be oil on the friction plate. So one attempt to take off in fifth gear from standstill for about 10 seconds fixed it completely. A bit of smoke and that awful burning clutch smell hung around for a minute or two and then it went back to perfect.
Fast forward a few days and the shudder has returned. I smoked the clutch up once more but nowhere nearly as much as the first time, most shudder went away. Its come back today. What could be the problem and how would I fix it? |

I have a similar problem with my EF!
The clutch is only a few months old and after replacing the cable this seems to be the next problem on the list... I did the smoke it up thing too (by mistake!) but yeah a few days later and its's back

Thats what I would have thought, there is no oil inside the bellhousing and I removed the stone plate on the lower half of the gearbox bellhousing to see if there was any oil on the engine side of the flywheel - none at all.
This is sh.ting me more than the dinosaur cable clutch..... |
