Yes.

In auto's the harness is bridged.

The wire loom is on every car with ABS. and the plug is near the rear of the fusebox, Manuals have an extender that goes to the clutch switch.

It suits No purpose BUT cruise.

He wouldn't have replied if he wasn't.

Well it also controlled the Idle speed controller back then.

snap..

neutral switch (NDS) on an EL box for example...but all E series really...

I know its an input to the ecu...pin 64 on EF and pin 30 on all other e series

on EA it went to pin 30 and it ran a clutch switch and Neutral switch in parallel with each other...

on EL the diagrams it only shows the NDS, but the diagrams are pretty poor..

Cuts the electronic cruise module when you depress the clutch pedal.
ie: prevents it from over-revving when you shift gears.

and no, its not linked to the neutral switch in the gearbox, if you clutchless shift while in cruise, she'll over rev.

so yeah...ill accept that the clutch switch is for cruise only on EF/EL...but what is the neutral switch for....

Ahhh...

We have a EA manual cruise control pedal box floating around...

On the clutch pedal there is two switches... One is your vac dump/switch hooked in series with the one on the brake pedal... So the other one that is on it has something to do with the idle speed?

The computer knows a manual gearbox to be in two states according to the transmission pin on the computer... Either in gear... Or in neutral... Must effect maps somehow... Or when it sees a transition from neutral to into gear it might adjust something to make it a bit harder to stall assuming you're taking off? It could do anything virtually... :?

Cheers,
Tim

Are you talking about the neutral shift on the box? I thought it just stopped your car starting in gear?

The neutral switch on my AUII mustn't do much as the box doesn't have one. Just the start inhibitor in the auto.
