Im not sure what the intervals are but I have mine serviced and flushed every 12-18months. Seems like good value as opposed to $2500 for rebuild... BTW there's no need to go to fraud for this, any trustworthy local mechanic should be up for the job.

Regarding the temp and behaviour... prolly a combination of the viscocity of the trans fluid and also the computer controlled aspect... there is a trans temp sensor for the ECU... what you guys describe sounds like variation to line pressure i.e. the VPR or S5 solenoid where pressure is regulated by EEC....

Commodore S5 solenoid??! - S**t fordman.....that'd be like letting someone else pork my missus! Not gonna happen.....

Picked it up from fraud today - and all is now sweeeet. Shifts like a F**k dream. Apparantly the tranny oil was burnt and underfilled - which means weird shifting when cold - so the ford man says....

He reckons it hadnt been done since new probably - which is now going on 8 years!! Well worth the 150 bucks for gearbox happiness me thinks.......I recommoned it boys...

Got it for $159 from Range Ford from some voucher in the local rag - normally $180. I just said i had the voucher and he didnt seem to phased about seeing it...

They do a complete flush and refill....worked very sweet for my car.

But if it helps improve shifts (there isnt a lot of slip between gears now) and prolongs the life of the gearbox then im all for it. Give it a go, you'll be quite surprised. I cant remember how much it was but i had it installed at my 1000km service when i had the new gearbox put in.

Yeah my EL has an ever so slight hesitation on start-up but goes soon after. Not as bad as my Misses 1992 Suzuki Vitara 1.6L 2speed Auto, that full on Revs its nut off on a cold morning first start as it will not go in to 3rd gear until you have driven at least 1km or let it idle for 7 minutes. Looks comical as she drives off. But no word of a lie that is a design fault on the Vitara's and is nromal for them to do that. Only way to fix it is it put some sort of sloenoid in the Auto box
