Does anyone else get a slight hesitation in their auto box from a cold start? Lasts until the gearbox has warmed up - after that, the gearbox shifts sweet....
Wonder if its a common "cold gearbox" prob, or whether its a sign of an impending date with a transmission specialist.

What do you mean hesitation? I think i get this in mine, and i was a touch concerned, it feels as if the car wants to go, but it is being held back?
I know i probably just made myself sound like a noob but thats the way it goes!! |

like it holds gear a bit longer and is not a smooth change, sort of a jolt

Guys- yes yes and yes. All those sound exactly the same as mine. Im glad to hear its a common design flaw, and not a f**k up specific to mine!
Just have to live with it i guess....but im sure theres a reason why it does it? Maybe something to do with cold tranny oil? Experts jump in at any time....

My 'Mont still hesitates when cold even with a 5000km new gearbox, i would'nt say the hesitation was anything to do with the gearbox, but i have heard that maybe a build-up of carbon in the engine (ie: fouled plugs / injectors). Then again i run BP 98ron fuel in it at all times sooo.......might see if i can arrange a dyno de-coke and see if that mekes any difference.

Well in all seriousness that's almost what my mate in his VL does. The thing will not go into overdrive at all when cold, so he stalls it up a little bit for about 30 seconds and that fixes it.
Beats having the motor rev like all buggery stuck in 3rd at 100km/h when cold. So possibly see if stalling it up a little to warm it up helps your problem, I'm sure it won't hurt it. |

Ill just smoke it up in the drive....just a little. That'll get the party started!
Im taking it to fraud tomorrow to change the gearbox oil - probably hasnt been changed in 125K, so ill let you know if it makes a difference. Will get em to check the solenoid too.... Faaark. I can already see the dollar signs
