what sort of cars were these? fords i presume?
coz anything from ebII and upwards in 6cyl will need resistor trick or some other mod to work.

My car wouldn't run without the resistor, mainly because the resistor tells the Auto ECU that it is in neutral and tricks the ECU saying the auto is not running hot.

I am running an Auto ECU with my manual. Only thing I have found wrong with it, is that it sometimes drops in RPM when the clutch is pushed in. Has stalled on me once when I pushed the clutch in, but now I just rev it up when I need to.

Search for "manual conversion"
Among many hits you will get is this one by Voxace,
http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... conversion
download the PDF. It has plenty of detail and pix.

Theres nothing wrong with asking them how theyre gonna do it..... chances are it wont work as good as the resistor mod in "Voxaces" doco

just on topic. i changed from auto to 5pd in my Eb11v8 . without resisters.
never once saw a power drop , just a hunting idle , which was easy to fix , by adjustment
just got codes in diagnostics coming up regarding auto..

now have Manual ECU , no more ecu auto codes ....

What Car??? I did this on my eb and the only thing wrong with my car is that i can only start my car in neutral (regardless if in gear and clutch in) s**t me but i got over it. my revs go up a bit (1500) not 900 or what ever it should be.. it is rare as rocking horse s**t for me to find a manual ecu but meh.....

there should be no drams follow voxace's guide or have a look at mine very similiar to voxace's but not ie boxcar version

froudey the reason your car only starts in neutral is because of the neutral switch on the side of the gearbox. if you dont like it then unplug it and join the wires together so u can start in any gear
