u should at least change the ratio while your at it...u will need to get a diff shop to do the job....some machining will be required on the 3.08 housing to take the higher ratio a*** and lsd

yeah when it comes to diffs your usually better off getting one supplied & fitted at a workshop cause you can take it back under warranty if theres a problem.
I know i had to go back 3 times to get my 3.7's shimmed correctly before i was happy. And this is from a well known workshop. If i had supplied my own gears, then they wouldve told me to get lost if any noises popped up..... |

ok, sorry to be a bit harsh but, i asked a question and i dont want back o atleast 3.45 gears in, or any of that. 1 because u need to shave the diff case. 2 have to change the speedo to suit. 3 reving changes.
so can it be done. i have a mechanic next door to us at work and i think he will do it. and can i put 3.08 gears on it.

I just checked the link, and here is my answers.
1. Yes it will work. As it lists suitable for the EF (and many other) BW diffs, he is obligded to sell you one that will fit. As long as your diff is 28 spline you'll be right. 2. Yes you can use the 3.08 gearing. 3. Whenver changing centres, alot of the time you will need to atleast check your shim sizing. Preload and backlash are pretty important to diff life, so in conclusion, you may have to do something here. Preload and backlash settings are in the gregorys repair manuals.

thats exactly what i wanted to no, thank you im pretty sure the ef diffs are 28 spline can someone confirm this??? i think i would just give it to the mechanic and ask him to put it in. im confident with taking an engine apart not a diff tho. lol thanks alot.

Well if you buy this centre and get a mechanic to fit it, then you will have no worry about preload and backlash, as he will sort that on fitment. (if he's a good mechanic).
I'm 99% sure that EF diffs are all 28 spline. I'm pretty sure that they canned the 25 spline diff in the ED-NC-DC series.

hay sorry to tag along on your thread mate but just wondering if any one can give me info on what amount of splines my diff should have ? its a single pegger eb series 2 'mont its got dirty long standard gears and is 100% not LSD i pretty much wanna buy the same diff centre and run either pintara 4:11's or R31 3:89's! ,,,but am wondering if i will have to try and source a pair or EF or better axles? and will this all fit in a standard borgy? |

eb2 = 28 spline
will fit without machining as its 3.23 ratio std

can i ask why you'd want to spend a few hundred on LSD if you dont plan on changing diff ratio's? To get any sort of straight line performance, a 3.45 or shorter diff is kinda mandatory behind an auto. An LSD behind a stock car is only useful for better burnouts lol |

I lived in an apartment complex in sydney where if I didnt have an LSD I wouldnt have driven out in the rain (Would have slid and then gone backwards).
Theyre good for what theyre good for |

i was under the assumption you had less chance of going sideways with a single spinner?
As one wheel spins and the car stays dead straight...... but with LSD the car wants to crab walk almost immediately Am i correct? |
