I own an ELXR8 auto put DBA Gold cross-drilled & slotted rotors all round 6 years ago & have only just replaced the rotors December 2008.
Only ever had them machined once. You can have them machined but not by your standard machine. Sports rotors have to be machined by a slower machine. Reason for changing rotors was that after I had them machined about 4 months later they started to shudder when braking. They had no crackes in them at all & i had had them glowing red a few times over the years. Now have slotted only all round I find the braking is not as good with the slotted rotors. Dave

i have been told to steer clear of bendix ultimates for my ford. mechanic said that they are to hard and can cause warping. i'm in the same situation as hotka with his ba - replaced disks with dbas and are warped again in no time.

There are cross drilled and slotted rotors for front and rear of all models of Falcon (and I will also say that horrible word EEEE holden...that hurts...sorry for swearing guys)on Ebay for around $140 a pair.
That price is unbelievable considering Supercheap sell standard smooth discs for $90 EACH That makes you a god dammed idjut if you dont buy then off Ebay I guess. How dumb have I been over the years guys

According to Race Brakes Sydney DBA when they have warranty claims for rotors and they always record what brand and type of pad used and it seems that when using green/red or yellow stuff pads they tend to warp more.
Matt from RBS steers customers to bendix or other ceramic pads

i bought a set of unkown origin cross drilled n slotted discs off ebay for a bit over $100, they almost look like stock rotors with the cast markings faced off, but then they would be undersize so they must be freshies.
to put it simply it completely turned around my braking performance. before the swap my 2006 bf would shudder that bad that coming down mt ousley it would almost shake drinks out of the cup holders & give you rsi. now it's awsome, supplied with semi kevlar cheap pads, seem to have alot of dust after 3000k's but least i know that the pads are wearing as oposed to the discs. thats what you want, a pad softer than the disc so it becomes the consumable, which were their intended purpose. who gives a phuk bout dust when you can step on the anchors with complete confidence ?

I just got my slotted and dimpled rotors machined for the first time since installation. About 35,000km or more done on them in the front of the 2 tonne wagon as they were starting to warp. Am using Bendix semi-metallics and forget how many pads I've been through, but one and half years before having them machined flat again seems okay to me. Sure, once you start machining there is no going back, but what the hell - $50 to have them machined and get another 20,000km or more and then do it again. Happy enough, thanks.

WHATEVER ROTORS YOU BUY DO NOT BUY THEM OFF THAT WANKER ON EBAY IN MELBORNE.
HE SELLS BRAKE UPGRADE KITS AS WELL. HE WILL RANT AND RAVE HOW GOOD THEY ARE BUT WHEN WE PUT 3 SETS OF HIS s**t ON OUR CAR. HE s**t ON ABOUT THEY ARE MADE IN THE SAME PLACE AS BMW ROTORS ( CRAP THEY ARE ) AND SENDING HIS QLD REP TO MACHINE THEM .( I KEPT ASKING HIM WHY WOULD I NEED TO MACHINE NEW ROTORS ) HE HAD NO ANSWER. IN THE END 4 WEEKS OF LYES AND CRAP WE GOT OUR MONEY BACK WE KEPT HAVING TO PUT OUR OLD ROTORS ON WICH WERE UNDERSIZE AND HAD NO ISSUE BUT BEING UNDERSIZE. EACH TIME HE SENT NEW ROTORS THEY ALL HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THEY ALL DISTORTED IN LESS THAN 30KM OF USE AND WHEN I DIALED THEM FOR RUNOUT HAD + 10 TO 15 THOU RUN OUT.HIS QLD REP EVEN DIALED THEM HIMSELF ( TOP BLOKE BY THE WAY SORT OF A PERSON IN THE MIDDLE ) HE KEPT BLAMIN ME ALL ALONG I NEVER TOLD HIM I USED TO WORK FOR THE OLD GIRLOCK BRAKES OR THAT I WAS A EX BRANCH 2IC FOR CHECKPOINT. AND A MECHANIC FOR 30 YEARS +. SO BE WARNED PEOPLE HE HAS SOLD HEAPS OF THESE s**t ROTORS AND BELIVE ME THEY ARE CRAP. SO STICK TO GOOD WELL KNOWN BRANDS ITS NO ALWAYS THE PRICE |

Quite a few guys are using greenstuff pads on thier falcons, but arent green stuff for smaller lightweight cars? and the redstuff for larger heavier cars?

Yes, redstuff is what the website recommends, and what has been recommended to me. The older redstuff pads were prone to noise, and had to be warmed up, but apparently the newer ceramic pads are good cold, better hot and relatively quiet. I'm getting some fitted soon so will be able to let you know results. Joe
