This thread is to gauge expressions of interest from fellow club members.
A club member on another Forum, is looking to get them made up, most likely in Australia by ROH, who cast the original GT wheels for Ford. They would be made in 19x8.5 wide, as a modern day tribute to a true classic wheel. They would be painted in the original Champagne Gold colour, but with possible custom options of Argent silver, or full polished. They would be done in a limited run of 100 sets only. Suggested pricing at this point in time, would be around $1,400 - $1,600 per set, including center caps. Any and all interested people, express your interest............ do you reckon it's a good idea, and do you reckon they'd be wheels worth having on your car? Which style of wheel would you be interested in, if a limited run of these wheels became available? - 19x8.5 EB GT wheels? or 19x8.5 EL GT wheels? Me personally, I want a set of each........ hell, two sets of each..... damn they look good. |

I'd put my hand up for EL GT's in 19's. whould be good on the track can. Unless you go for an AU offset, then things change.

Whats the reality run of rims actually coming out at this price is what I really want to know.

I would love a set of EB's. They are pure horn, way better than EL's just due to the fact they were never copied, so makes them harder to find.

All depends on the numbers interested.
If enough people show interest, then there's a strong chance it will happen. I'm trying to help a club member get his idea off the ground. This is the first step. It would take a couple of months, from mould creation, to finished product. The suggested price, was based on some preliminary pricing from the manufacturers, without making any massive profits, as the idea is to help out other e-series fans like me, and you guys, not to turn a coin. |

Best idea I've heard in a very long time! but would they only come out in a pre-au offset? or would there be a chance for the later model ford fans to get some in post au offset?

This is a great idea. I would love some EB-style 19's.

This has been an on again off again thing for 5+ years. It won't happen. 100 people won't stump up $1400-1600 on a pipe dream until AFTER it has eventuated.

That attitude is not really very helpful..........
It will also depend on how much money the manufacturers require up front, to make a batch of the wheels. And yes, of course how many people are serious enough about buying a set, to front up with a deposit. The run would be pretty special if it goes ahead, as this sort of thing doesn't happen often. Not trying to be helpful, but realistic. Your talking to the biggest a*** modifiers in the world, who want it all cheap, and right now.

The wheels would be not much more than the chinese knockoff wheel so you never know.
I hear where you're coming from, re: cheap and now, but these wheels would be extremely limited, and probably more for guys who have a GT and want to update, or those who are just happy to spend the money. 100 sets of each wheel isn't many, considering the number of EB GT's, EL GT's and regular falcon/fairmont/fairlanes around. |
