hey everyone, still new to the forums but enjoyin all the useful info that is put out.
i just bought some 18 inch rims todays and thought some i could improve the look of the car by adding some coloured calipers. So i was just wondering if anyone in melborune (preferably eastern subs) knew the price and also where i could get some painted break calipers? for a '97 EF fairmont, for example white ones or metal green etc.
Thanks for any help

You could even paint them yourself using some VHT caliper/brake paint.
You can get that from pretty much any auto store ie supercrap, autobarn etc.

Yeah it definately would be. I am not sure of the price, have seen it cheap at some places but cant remember the exact price. But its not too expensive, compared to buying a painted set the saving would be enourmous.

Repco can get the PBR Sports Calipers, they come in a choice of colours. But best thing to do is go to an auto store get a can of VHT Caliper paint and paint the caliper!

you dont neccessarily have to use caliper paint. On my ed i used vht hi-temp paint. i wouldnt recomend using normal paint as it would probably crack and peel within a short time frame

i have don this to a mates cars (how do i get signed up for these jobs), any way, buy some car stands cos your car will be of the road for at least a day.

and make sure you clean the area VERY well hell give the calliper a sand to smooth it out if you want, just be carfull with the sanding leftovers,(their secretly very evil little buggers).

hell dont just go for looks get youself some DBA disc's their only $120>140ea, plus they look less poser.

good luck.

Use the VHT Brake/Caliper cans as they have a better shiner/thicker finish then the vht engine enamel/hi temp paint.

Make sure u mask it up well, clean it VERY VERY well before you spray and give it ample time to load

mine looks like

Also while you're spraying the calipers, spray the Hubs as well, perhaps a nice silver/grey.
Its all very easy to do: Just cover up the face of the disc with making tape, cover the calipers with a plastic bag and you can easily and safely spray the hub. Then spray the caliper, put it back together and it all looks new.
