What are people's thoughts of cutting the standard springs in an Ef as a cheap alternative to buying new ones.

Bad bad idea. You loose the coil rate.

hi
in my opinion you could get away with cutting 1/2 to 3/4 of a coil off to lower it a little.. but be carefull it may look lower but it wont handle as good as proper heavy duty lowered springs.. |

Do you value your life? If so, dont be a tosser, and try and be all hardcore like commondoors, do it properly and keep the falcon modding circle d***head free.

i cut mine. just dont cut any more then 2 coils or you will be on bumps. i got a set of ultra-lowered springs on ebay for 120. thats the better option

if you want really low, get ultralows, then get them reset. Should be low enough for you, and if its not, well... buy an impala and get airbags

If you wanna lower it without breaking the budget, get them compressed. Usually costs around $45 per spring. But if you do cut them, make sure you keep the spring cool whilst cutting it. The temp. change f**k them. Cut it slowly, dont just lean on the grinder, and get a mate to stand there with a hose and just trickle water on the spring to make sure it dont get to hot.

my thoughts and the thoughts of anyone who has a IQ above the room temperature is that it is a bloody great idea... if the cars not yours, not being driven and you don't care if it's a peice of s**t and dangerious...
