No, it changes the rate at which the coil compresses. The best way is to get the proper springs for what you want, super low, low, std, etc....

Call a suspension place and ask, rough idea about, $140 not fitted. If you don't know how to fit them, get them to do it, a least you'll get warranty on the job done.

cutting springs is a crap idea you will never get it to sit the way you want and considering the cost of springs it is not worth the headache

I just bought a car with cut springs in the front (kings ultras in the rear) and the fronts are absolutely terrible - is is a cheap dodgy modification that is illegal for a reason!
New springs are like $120 ish a pair new, or second hand springs pop up quite often for around $60 - $70 a pair. |

In your first post it makes out like your doing the rear. If so, you don't need the spring compressor. Just undo and remove the shocky and the spring will come out. |

NOT SURE IF THIS HAS BEEN SAID BUT.
it is not safe to cut the spring at all for 2 reasons: 1) if you cut it wrong u'll fuk up the spring 2) if a cops finds that u have cut it u will be defected

In Addtion you have an accidnet with cut springs... and someone dies... your going to the big house... and you insurance will be null and void... So all in all don't be a tight a*** and buy desnet ones... it might just be the advice that saves your life... |

As far as i know, it'd be fine to cut the springs are they are single rate springs, and not progressive... ie the spring compresses at an even rate, instead of becoming firmer when having more of a load on it?
Still not ideal, as the springs obviously were not designed to be that short in the first place, but i don't see why it's such a bad thing? Still, for a bit over $100, it's just not worth cutting them.
