can anyone explain to me why you use resistors when using the auto computer?

i didn't use the resistors in my conversion, i simply shorted the inhibitor switch wires to make the ecu think it's in park until such time as i wired the inhibitor switch wiring to the neutral switch so it wont start unless in neutral.

well shorting the inhibitor doesnt tell the ecu its in park. it joins the ignition relay wires so the car can start.
the first resistor is to tell the ecu it is in neutral, otherwise the ecu normally rises the idle as the ecu will think it is in drive...

the second resistor is only for ef or el ecu's this is to tell the ecu that the trans temp is ok,
otherwise the ecu thinks the auto trans is overheating ,turning the thermo fans on constant..
