My suspension on my EA has been screwed for a while, (creaking noises, bad handling etc). I was told by 2 mechanics that it needed to be changed asap. A day before i took it in, i heard knocking sounds and he said my 'arms' were worn through and something was knocking against my dif. I have no idea about suspension so did I get ripped off?
Anyhow, i needed a desperate fix, this is what i payed: REAR SHOCKABSORBER x 2 $125.00 R&R REAR SHOCKERS x 1 $79.00 STRUT UNIT FRONT x 2 $338.08 R&R FRONT STRUTS x 1.8 $142.20 TRAILING ARM ASSEMBLY x 2 $204.00 R&R REAR TRAILING ARMS x 0.5 $39.50 TOTAL $927.78 (BTW, I'm not sure why the quantity for front struts is 1.8)

this is how i think you were charged
parts, REAR SHOCKABSORBER x 2 $125.00 STRUT UNIT FRONT x 2 $338.08 TRAILING ARM ASSEMBLY x 2 $204.00 labour, R&R REAR SHOCKERS x 1 $79.00 R&R FRONT STRUTS x 1.8 $142.20 R&R REAR TRAILING ARMS x 0.5 $39.50 the price seems to be ok, maybe a little exxy for the parts but don't know what he used. i.e. if monroe shockers there about $110 a pair for the rear from repco.

Well that's a relief, I had to ask anyway as people kept asking me how much it cost and when i told them, all I recieved were cringed faces.

cars are cars and always cost more money than you, me or anyone thinks is reasonable.
Cringes are part of running car which is 20 years old.

Seems like a pretty standard price.

I own & operate a mechanical shop in tasmania and msman said $110 for shocks ....But you forget as a mechanic we have to make money on the parts as well as labour we call this retail prices......But we have trouble wih this because often youcan get a part for the same price as we can, a bit unfair considering I spend up to 5000.00 per month with my suppliers .. It Suxs big time.
The price seems fair to me and if they are monroe shocks and struts its a great price as these have gone up within a few years, I can remember only 2 or three years ago I would Supply & Fit rear shocks for $ 85.00 Scotty
