i have recently brought a ba xt v8 and in the wet had some traction issues when accelerating. after this i jacked up the back end and hand spun one tyre and the other didnt move which led me to believe it was a single spinner or open centre diff. i was wondering if anyone could help me with some knowledge. would it be ezyer to get lsd gears put into my diff or get a xr8 diff put in and roughly how much would it cost in perth.

Do you have the VIN number? I can tell you what is fitted to it as standard and then we can see.

Just for starters, depending on WHAT sort of diff you have now. You will need these bits.

The actual centre with the sun gears and the plates: $1870.00 NEW (Ford)
The bearings and seals and Collapsible spacer need to be replaced also. $600.00 (Ford)

You could more than likely get bearings and seals cheaper after market and maybe a reconditioned centre and that would save you heaps. You may also be able to get a complete second hand diff centre for say $800.00-1000.00 at the wreckers.

yea vin is: 6FPAAAJGSW3L71229. i was also wondering how much more power would one of them flash tunes get me or would it be smarter to start with a exhaust setup.

I had a look see and it is a XT 24V V8 with nothing spectacular on it. Ice Mint colour, black interior, cruise control.

Maybe it would be better to look at getting the little devil to run more efficiently first and then worry about the Diff thing later?

A nice exhaust would be a good idea, let the beast breathe better and cold air induction?

yea i am tryin to get a exhaust at the moment. just waiting for my frind that knows som guy at a exhaust shop to make some custom extractors. the xt alredy has a big mouth intake and a k & n filter. i was thinking of making the custom air induction on the Bseries.com.au forum mods page. it looks simple enough and may be effective.

i also wanted to know if extractors from a ba xr8 would fit on the 3v heads?

sorry for all the Qs but im not that clued up on these newer motors.

It's ok to ask questions, if you don't, you will never find anything out? :D

I rather think that the exhaust would be a little different between the 24 and 32V heads.
