Hey guys, im about to get a set of diff gears for my EF Fairmont, 3.45 ratio. The guy wants $150 for them and says they are in excellent condition havent seen any pics but i would rathr see for my self. What should i look out for when inspecting them? Any wear marks or anything i should consider before purchasing?
Thanks in advance. Nathan |

That means he is selling you the crown wheel and pinion also? anyway, check the teeth for dark spots or sections and run your finger over the teeth. Really, the only way is to have them tested properly. I would hate to buy something like this cheap and last a few months then have to be taken out again. You changing the Bearings as well?

Thanks for that mate, your a legend!! So basically just wear on the teeth is the main thing to look out for? The guy said the gears and the bearing are in excellent condition, ran mint and quiet and so far i trust him but i'll guess i'll find out for sure when i go look at them. I secured them for $130 so it isnt too bad of a price if they are in good condition. It'll be good to get a feel for the 3.45 gears in my Mont anyway, should have a little more bite off the line for now i'll probably change to 3.9s in the future lol. Might get the bearing replaced when the gears get put in so thanks for the heads up. Much appreciated!!
