Had my wheel bearing noise investigated. And it was the right hand front. Then it was discovered the noise at the rear is diff noise. I've been referred to this guy who can do diff work with the diff still on the car. Apparently has some kind of spreader that keep the cost down. But looking at $500 minimum. How much is an LSD these days, any ideas guys?

any one can do them in the car.
and you don't need a dif spreader to do it.

the lsd center can cost between 600 and 800

However...I don't think a 3.27 or a 3.45 will fit into a 3.08 diff housing.

Don't quote me on that.

Well I guess thats out.

I wonder why this reputable mechanic thinks you need a spreader?

If an LSD center is that much, how much do you think I should pay to overhaul what I've already got?

And thanks for the ideas gentlemen.. 8-)

Whats better for refinement and quietness in your opinion. 3.27, 3.45 or 3.08. Are they all quiet cruising at 110kmh. And is the takeoff to 60kmh good in the other ratio's?

depends on your exhaust mate....
if a 3.45 is too loud, buy a resonator for $80

The exhaust is quiet. But I'm overhauling the diff now to hush her up and make her quiet and refined. I just would like to have a diff that makes the car feel lighter with better take off, like all the other cars on the road have, that cruises quietly at 60, or 70, 80, 100 or 110 kmh.
Which of the 3 does all that? 8-)

cant see why the centres would be different?

comon fras explain!

kit 3.08:1 will give good econ above say 110kmhr but slowe take off
low engine revs

3.23:1 improved take off and almost no diff to econ as engine will be workign in it power range :)
higher engine revs

3.45:1 even better take off and slight decrese in econ
higher still engine revs

Thanks mate. So in summary the 3.23:1, should be the same economy wise. But cruising at 80 ot 100kmh the rpm will be higher.
