Hey guys. Wondering what the big difference is between these two LSD's
-3.27 and -3.45 ?? Ive already got a 3.27 in a ute shell im thinkin of transferring into a sedan shell so i can use on my car.., is it worth tryin to fins a 3.45 or is there sweet f**k all difference?? thanks. |

Basically the difference is .18 to be exact if that helps .
Is the sedan a manual or auto, Thats is what will make the final decision. I assume auto 3.27 and manual 3.45. 3.27 in a manual will be a bit more sluggish but will save some fuel. 3.45 in an auto will show some better accelaration. I do believe that the autos came out with 3.08 in sedans but im not sure about the different ratios for uterus's. Is the ute a 5 speed manual? Need more details to make the call Bro. Cheers Joel

ive got a manual sedan.. with just the standard 3.08 as it was an auto and i did manual conversion.. lol.. what wuld be better is manual? 3.27 LSD or 3.45 LSD, much difference?? power wise and fuel wise? thanks
ps i got the diff from a ute.. it was a manual ute with 3.27 lsd. was an xg ute. |

the only reason im thinkin of using the 327 is cause i already got it.. and its a good tight diff and it didnt cost me anything.. and money wise if i wanna get a 345 id have to buy one.. lol.. if yu already had a 327 wuld yu use it or would you try finding a 345? thanks |

id definatly use it, but you do realise the ute diff wont be a direct fit? the diff housing wont fit under a sedan and bolt up as far as i know because the ute/wagon has leaf springs and the sedan runs coils so the housings are different..otherwise if you have the right tools you can swap the centre out of the ute diff into the sedan and it will fit fine

i've gone from 3.08 to 3.45...didn't really feel much difference.
it's the lsd i was really after, an open diff with manual is a C*** |

I believe I run an 3.27LSD (or 3.23?) with a manual. It is a bit sluggish, but definitely not as sluggish as the auto, off the line. After doing the manual conversion, RPM at highway speeds is 2000RPM, on the auto it was 1750 I believe or something.
I was thinking of changing to 3.45s but because I did most of highway driving, 3.27s were better. Now I need 3.45s with more stop start/metro driving but money is no where to be found.

EBII's had 3.27 gears with the 4sp auto's....a mate has one, factory original.
Another mate had an EF ExPolice sedan, it had 3.23 LSD, auto. My ED was auto with 3.08.....it's now 5sp with 3.27 LSD......goes way better than auto. EB1 XR8 had 3.27's as well.

both my ef fairmonts ran 3.23 open slippers from memory, the el gli manual runs 3.08 and its all factory manual and diff, its alot better than the autos i had but it definatly runs too far through the gears for my liking and id love 3.45 gears for around town as thats 99% of my driving, just needs a little less pedal effort to get up to speed and id be happy,
