Just a quick question,
Are the 5 speed conversions for the EA-EL the same? The reason why I am asking is that I can get an EB 5 speed conversion (without ECU) for $800.
I have an EF, and am wondering if the conversion would fit.
If all the parts are not the same, what are the parts that are different (I know that the ECU is different).

The last question,
What changes would have to be made for the cruise control to work properly with the manual transmission?

Cheers
Chris

I think the earlier EA's had a differing flywheeland clutch setup, 3 bolts over 5 or something. But even then though it should all bolt up to all the donks there pretty much the same.
I see absolutely no reason why that EB conversion wouldn't fit. Only thing I can think of is the center console peice, will be to fit EA-ED dashes...?

chong, the pedal boxes are different, just look at where the handbrake is located on an EB as oppossed to an EF. EB onwards box was a better unit all round, stronger. and like twr7cx stated EA flywheel has a 3 bolt set up compared to the others that have 6 (im pretty sure its 6, cbf looking at it in the garage lol)

So I can use the EB conversion, as long as I get my hands on the EF pedal box. Is this correct??

As long as the shifter comes out in the right spot, I shouldn't have any issues with the centre console piece, as I have 2 EL GT gear boots (one has been modified to fit on the auto stalk

I am getting a friend to do it. He is a apprentice mechanic (3rd year). He has done a head gasket for me in the past. Cost $100 plus the VRS kit. That only took him a couple of hours 8-)
