jack up car
mark the tailshaft near the diff and on the diff so the lines match up
mark the wheel and the ground so the marks line up
turn tailshaft counting how many turns it takes to turn wheel around one complete revolution
if its 3 times its a 3 to 1 ratio
if its 3.5 times its 3.5 to 1 ratio

a more accurate way is turn the tailshaft and count the revolutions it takes to turn the wheel 10 times
divide this number on a calculator 10 times and thats your diff ratio

if you turn tailshaft 34 and a quarter turns put 34.25 in your calculations for a more accurate ratio

Hey Smoke_Rubber.

My Manual EL, has 3.45's. It sits on about 2,100 at 110km/h. Its dead on 2 grand at 100km/h.

I don't know whether it would matter cause its an 8???
Can only get around 100km/h out of it in 2nd.

Without pulling the diff apart how can you tell what you have got.? I do know that both wheels turn at the same time on my xf s pak. I have even been able to make the wheels spin (noise) in 3rd gear, however its annoying and cornering is terrible. I dont know why someone would put this type of diff centre in it.My other question is can the centre be changed without removing the axle.
