On both EB-EF I have slotted discs DBA's & pads I use ultimates.
I have noticed that the discs wear away & get a LIP on the edge of the disc,is this due to the PAD chomping the disc or are slotters are s**t? Is there a harder disc avalible or go back to STANDARD discs?

the ultimates i fitted a couple of months ago came with a notice that brake dust and rotor wear were both to be expected due to the high performance of the pads. braking is awesome for std setup though, i cant wait to hit the track.

it is the hard pad compound on the disc rotors
the rotors are fine! it too 2 sets of ultimates for me to kill a set of DBA slotted rotors best bet is to go to a softer compouind brake pad ie bendix advance the breaking wont be as good BUT wont wear your rotors out or u can have your rotors machined to get the lip offf them

Well if ULTIMATES chomp like hell on the slotters do you think they would chunk away as much on standard discs.

I doubt that there is any differance in the steel used to cast slotted and non slotted disks. In fact it's probably the same steel used in casting either disk type and probably either ford or dba branded disks
Your pads are causeing the wear on the disks themselves. As stated earlier, machine your disks (if not undersize) and use a kinder/softer pad compound. Cheers |

Well next pads wil be softer compound as discs arent CHEAP.
Well i'm running a cheap set on the EB at the moement but still need the disc's machined I seen a local brake joint & the bloke said he did'nt have the right equipment to get the lip off. Any one go suggestions as to where I can get the machining done in Sydney without me taking the discs off as I dont have TOOLS.

I am not a fan of on-car machining as i don't believe they do as good a job and it also means you don't service your bearings as often.
If you take your disks off, it's only $25 odd dollars per disk to machine them. That's the price charged by most brake shops where i live Pity you don't haev any tools to remove your disks as it is the cheepest option. Cheers |

brake-pro parramatta will do agood job ,but i think they would still need to remove disc rottors to machine them
