Gday

I'm about to get new wheels and I want 9" wide at the back and 8" wide at the front. Just wondering if they will fit ok in the back.

Cheers

I comfortable fitted 255/40 rears to my EF, they didnt scrape, but were only on a 8 in rim

9" wide wheels will go on no worries.
tyre wise, you can go upto about 265.

But it depends on the height of your car, and the offset of your wheels.
I have 265 tyres on 9" rims on my EF.
i had to lip/chop the guards a bit to stop them scrubbing.

I've got 18x8s with 245s all round, fits fine. You could fit 9" wide rims in the rear fairly easy.

ok cool so 235,245,255 are all the widths of the tire. What would be a the width of the usual tire on a 19x9? would it be 255 or doesn't it work like that?

yeah 255 would be a pretty standard width on a 9" rim.

Diameter is your 19"
A 255/30 19 breaks down as follows
255 is tyre width in millimetres
30 is the aspect ratio. The sidewall height in other terms. The sidewall will be 30% of the tread width.
19 is the rim diameter in inches.
Tyres have to be the only thing that uses both metric and imperial measure together.
I have 255/40 17 on E series offset rims on my NF Fairlane. They fit easily.
Whether they hit or not also depends on what ride height you want to run.
Best thing to do is fit your rims before dumping it and only lower it to the point where you dont have any issues.

haha, not to mention percentage.
