I know, I know.
This has all been done to death but I was wondering if the King Spring Low Springs would be the same height as the stock EL XR8 suspension. Most posts on here say that they are 25mm lower than stock but is this lower than the stock falcon suspension or the stock tickford suspension? I am thinking of doing some suspension mods to my EL XR8. I would love to go lower then stock eg. King Spring superlows but I have trouble parking etc at the moment as I have the full tickford kit. So I was wondering whether the low springs are higher, lower or equal to the tickford stock springs. I wouldn't mind my car a bit lower but I wouldn't like it any higher. Would there be an advantage of putting in the low king springs. Would the ride height change at all? Would I get any better handling from these springs rather then the standard tickford springs? Cheers.

Yeah that's what I thought. Thanks Mate. So do the King Springs give you any advantages over the tickford springs or would it be a pointless waste of money? If the superlows are only approx 10 mm lower than the low springs maybe it wouldn't be too much of a bastard for scrapes etc.

pretty sure that king LOWS are very similar to XR6 height, if not.. the same.

Fronts are about the same height.
Rear Kings are about 10mm lower than XR. From memory, King lows are about 30 to 40mm off stock height and Superlows take another 30mm from that. |

Yeah I thought that they would be about the same height. Would the King Springs be better / firmer or should I just keep the stock springs and just get new shocks / swaybars?

keep the springs and upgrade the swaybars, the spring softness it roughly the same and unless your driving cross country i dont think you'll notice the difference unless you special order heavy duty lows but then you will feel every rock

the biggest advantage i see is that the king springs will be new, against EL springs that unless u have recently replaced are probably at best 8 years old and it worst 10... |

well a mate of mine has a el xr, stock springs, my ef fairmont with superlows and its definetly lower so i guess lows may be the same.
i believe its a waste of time buying king spring lows, if u want to lower ur car go superlows. It also gives u better handling cuase of less body roll.

it isnt worth it. the heavy duty lows are gay. thats what i have the ride is relly solid, you feel every bump but i do need new bushes front and rear.
If ya want lower go the super lows. problem with here in port augusta is you have to say goodbye to mudflaps as they scrape on lows so super lows is a no no with mudflaps. |

I don't have mudflaps on my car which is good but I have scraped the front skirt a couple of times going up driveways and parking just on the stock suspension. So it looks like I will just keep the XR springs and just get all new bushes, get some whiteline swaybars and maybe look into some new shocks. Would the Koni Adjustables be good with the XR springs and the whiteline swaybars? I would probably get this done in Adelaide at a proper suspension place as I have had a few problems with some of the local guys here in port augusta. The reason that I am thinking about new suspension is that I do a lot of driving up through the hill passes around here and I think that it could handle a lot better then it does now. I have also got the usual squeaks etc.

where are you thinking of getting it done?

Mine has terrible squeeks, only had the lows in for bout 13000 km now. next year ill be getting my exhaust then looking into some good bushes and maybe some swaybars. but i really dont think the lows are worth it over the ticky stuff for the few mm it will drop it.
