Basically, can an XR6 sedan 3.54 LSD fit to an EF wagon or will there be dramas because of the different rear suspension and that?

pretty sure you can't swap them over - due to the fact wagons have the leaf suspension...

9" diff out of a leaf sprung falcon?

yup, any diff from XA-XD sedans, coupes, wagons, XA-XH utes&panelvans will physically bolt straight up, but the pick would be an XHII XR6/8 diff, cos the outbacks IIRC had a different diff ratio

As far as i know the Outback featured a hydrolic diff (dunno what the advatage/difference is on that) which was 3.45 LSD, it was called Hydratrak or something funny. Did any of the XA-XD's have an LSD diff ratio similar to 3.45? I might go talk to some of the diff shops and see if any of them have some options for me next time I've got a day off. |

I believe thats a diff lock

The hydratrack diff used a viscous coupling instead of the spring and cones of the sedan LSD. Don't know what the difference is performance wise but would probabily be a bit slower to react.

I used one from an XH ute, and the handbrake setup was different.. hence haven't had a handbrake for the last 2-3 years

I guess i'll look at just changing the internals of my current diff. |

Best bet is to just change the center and or gears..

Cheers for that though, next time I've got time off I'll find out about changing the center or gears. but i thought i read in another thread that the 3.45 LSD peices couldn't be fitted to a normal diff, ahd to be an entire diff swap. |
