I really liked the way it sat with Kings mate...
What are the Dobinson spirngs? Lows? If I go for Dobinson springs I'll get Super Lows. But I'll wait and see how much it settles... Good effort btw. |

They are the comfort Lows and this morning they have settled in more and looking better. The reason i tried these is because the Kings were too harsher ride and the Superlows in Kings were just too low.

i got super low kings in mine love the height but the ride quality is s**t. probably cause of the stock shocks but i am seriously contemplating throwing the stock springs back! these look like a great spring..
just a thought though, if these springs are softer for ocmfort, then that means the wheel travles further into the guard to absorb the impact. now in a standard height spring thats fine cause there is room for that. but if its lwoered and does that then the chances of lipping your guard or the hweel bottoming out would be much greater right???? had any troubles like that so far????

I believe the design of these springs is that the outer coils are softer to absorb bumps better but when the car is weighted the inner coils are firmer to accept the heavier loads.

Keeping comfort and absorbing large bumps etc in mind, what shocks are recommended to go with these Dobinson Comfort Low springs. With your research BTW, I think I have just found my new springs for my car. Great posts!

Im just using Monroe GT gas all around. The same shocks i used with the Kings. I believe the only reasing why Kings are so widely used is because they are simply known of more and Pedders are too expensive! You go to any Auto spare shop and they stock Kings which stops the others from selling at that retailer. Anyway i have no regrets on using these Dobinson springs and other i know will not agree with my opionions as they will stand by the product they currently have no matter what.

Im sure you will be impressed with the ride compared to Kings. The price is also reasonable. If you cant get them there in W.A this place ships Australia wide and i think at no extra cost. I got mine from their store in Melbourne for $230 (front & rear). They may not have the items listed online but call them. Click on the link for their details.

Oops i forgot to mention, if you're going for super lows it would be wise to go for the shortened shocks. They also stock Ultima shocks/struts. I put a set of the shortened rears in my mates EA and they perform quite good IMO. At $150 for the rears its alot cheaper than Pedders $200 plus. The Ultima even come with new bumpstops!!

Just an additional point.....
The quoted manufacturers reduced ride height figures are: Dobinson Low and Comfort Low: -35 to 40mm from standard (from a phone conversation with Dobinsons) King Low: -35mm approx from standard (email from King Springs) |

Not sure what your particular insurance company may do or require. I guess they are all a bit different. Here in NSW, the 30mm limit applys with NRMA. They tell me that I just need to advise them that the new suspension complies with this figure. This is in addition to a bunch of other items relating to safety and roadworthy considerations. |
