To be clear, the difference between Limited Slip and normal (single spinner is a misleading term) diff is that when one wheel or the other loses grip, a Limited Slip diff will direct driving force to the wheel with best traction so it's not only carrying most of the load but is also getting most of the power whereas a normal diff will keep directing more or less equal driving force to both wheels - so the one with lost traction will spin pointlessly and the other will be carrying most of the load whilst not getting most of the power.
THAT is why LSD can perform better IN SOME CIRCUMSTANCES - ie. where one wheel or the other loses traction. If there's no loss of traction then both types of diff will perform identically - ie. contrary to popular MISUNDERSTANDING, "Single Spinner" diff does in fact drive BOTH wheels! (it just doesn't compensate very well when traction is lost on one). An advantage of "Single Spinner" is that when you lose traction it will generally be on one wheel - so the remaining one having grip keeps you straight - versus LSD where if you push it to loss of traction it can get ugly when both wheels lose grip together - ie. which can = go sideways. Keep in mind tho that single spinner can also lose grip on both - it's just that generally one will go first which gives you a bit more time to figure things out.
