G'day thrillseekers. About 4 years ago, I lowered my EL wagon (leaf springs @ rear) and got the usual vibes. I am now sick of the vibrations, and I am going to get rid of them.
Now, I know HOW to do it, but I don't have a WHERE to do it (or even a WHO to do it). I have approached a couple of drive line "specialists", but they tend to look at me strangely when I ask can they do the fix. Questions: has anybody found a driveline specialist in Melbourne who is understands and is capable of doing the job? It really isn't very hard!! Is there somebody out there, in Melbourne preferably, that has access to a drive on hoist that I could hire/borrow/sneak on to? Cheers |

When you say "get rid of them" are you meaning the vibrations or the springs?
When you say you know how, what exactly is it you want done? There are a few options back there, and most can be done on a set of jack stands.....

I'm gonna get rid of the vibes I would love to put IRS there but......
I know it could be done on jack stands, but it would be soooo much simpler on a hoist, and it probably could be done a bit more accurately. If there is no replies, I will resort to stands It can't be that far out, and I know that raising/tilting the diff 1/4" = about .75 degrees change in pinion angle, and about .25 degrees in uni joint operating angle. I gotta buy myself an inclinometer tho. (ebay here I come!!) I would be quite happy to pay someone to do it too. |

A basic mechanical / suspension workshop would be able to do that for you. Or you could try Driveline Services, down there somewhere, http://www.driveline.com.au/ in Bayswater. If you do get it done at a driveshaft shop, you should get the uni's replaced, and balance the shaft while it's there. The rear uni will probably be roo-ted by now. Good luck.

I agree that any basic shop should be able to do this, but as i have said, any that I have asked sorta look at me funny and make "erm..um...it's a big job" type noises, and start looking busy somewhere else.
The shaft has been balanced already, but I probably will get the unis replaced. I will try that place and see what they say. Thanks |

I am surprised you got any driveline vibrations lowering the rear of the wagon, as the leaf springs will keep the diff straighter inline with the tailshaft than the sedans do.
My EB Wagon is lowered using 2.5" blocks and I don't have any driveline vibrations, unlike my old sedan. If you are having issues with the pinion angle you could have some wedges made up to adjust the angle straighter. Oh, and I do all my work in my driveway. There is no need for a hoist. Just do it.
