I tried pushing my EL the other day out of the garage and it was near impossible, and at the time I thought I could hear the rear brakes binding.
So ive pulled the calipers off and its still very hard to turn the axle forwards, and near impossible to turn it backwards. I then thought it might be the handbrake binding, but even without the discs on there theres still a massive amount of resitance. Car is obviously in Neutral, and theres way more resitance than my ED, which can be easily pushed around. Anyone have any ideas?

Your EL has a LSD, and the ED doesn't ???
Might be to do with that ??

cant be in natural properly, lsd wouldnt have anything to do with it. i've pushed mine with flat tyres before, maybe you need to work out? lol

auto vs manual?
isn't that the reason you are meant to only flat bed or reverse tow autos, because you are spinning up all the auto internals and clutches slipping and s**t but with no drive on the pump to provide fluid?

I have found with an auto when its cold, harder to push than when its warm to hot. Just a thought.

Ive pushed around a 6t truck at work and it was easier than the XR8, so there is something seriously wrong here. Anyway ill drop the tailshaft and see if its the diff or the trans doing it.

You checked the rear brakes but are the front calipers holding ? Doesen't need a lot to make it hard to roll.

Had the whole rear end jacked up and rear rotors removed, and the same resitance was in the axle when you try and turn it.

possibly a sized bearing? or collapsed bearing will give a tight feel?
