I rang up the Register of Motor Vehicles the other day an got the legal ride heights. 350mm on the front is the lowest legal height and 330mm on the rear is the lowest legal height. Just thought i would let anyone interested know.

WHERE is the height from but? They only need 100mm of clearnace to the lowest part of the body?

going to agree with glenn there with the ride height measured from the arch to the centre of the wheel. but what happens if u have bigger rims? would that mean the car is higher off the ground even if u measure it from there? phong =P~

if you have correct tyre size, bigger rims make no(or bugger all) difference as overall diameter stays basically the same.
i purchased my car from nsw about 3 weeks ago and to get rego changed to s.a. had to take it through regency (where they check vehicles in s.a.). at the time mine measured 320mm all round. i got pinged for it and was told minimum legal was 335 all round. bought new springs, went back and got passed. front 340mm, rear 335mm. having said that mine is an eb. maybe stock heights are diff so if they allow 30mm(for example) lower than stock then this would explain the discrepancy. i also believed that it should be a diff measurement front to rear as guard at rear is lower than front. i mentioned this but said they can only go by specs they get given.

in NSW I know it is 100mm at the lowest point of your car, have seen my mates get tested with a trolley thing the cops push under the car, if it hits anything you get defected

100mm in Victoria is legal, not sure about insurable. think about 300mm thats the longest side of an A4 piece of paper. ring them up again for a clarifacation

The ride height is measured from the centre of the wheel to the bottom of the guard. Bigger rims shouldn't make a difference as the profile of the tyre lessens which keeps the overall diameter the same.

ADR 43 my friends.
100mm when the vehicle is fully laden (falcon seats 5, 68kg per occupant) & a 75% full fuel tank (I think ?). Police check the vehicle how ever it is when they pull it up, so get all your mates out of the car when you are pulled up.

All my mates are fat bastards and drops my car below 100mm when its full. I guess it is time to weld in some steel bars instead of having shocks
