215/45/17's on 9 inch rims def qualified as stretched... They were on front... Only thing about that was tyre wear was awesome (didn't help hitting ripple strip at outside of sweeper whilst four wheel sliding a few times....) Stuck like s**t to a blanket, really did do something for handling and did not have rim hit ground once...

Lap time was 1.37 or some crap like that. The V8's utes are doing 1.27 around the same track (and they have surge tanks so they keep their fuel around left hand corners and don't have to grandma the car or loose it entirely and spin as they have no power to drive out of left hand skids / corners...!!!!)

What I am saying, without any more fuss, is that 215/45/17 on 9" rim on front of 1800kg wagon doing laps not entirely slowly never once experienced "riding on the sidewall" or "hitting rim on the deck"...

Sure, the tyre wear is shocking... But since you are constantly using the shoulder of the tyre for traction, I guess hitting ripple strips in high rpm third whilst the inside of the car felt like it was lifting off the ground would result in illegal tyres in next to no time.

Road use was not bad. Reckon the Dunlop DZ101's (bad for wear anyway) could have done 20,000 legally.

look at KOYA rims, they can make thum up to your PDC and offset, a set of 18X8.5's cost me $1450, and they have all the popular styles

yeh, my point was if the tyre actually blew out.. even then, I'm only repeating what cops used to say years ago, not saying I actually subscribe to it...

Basicly the guy with the Fairlane, has given a clear example of what I want, Minus chrome, no offence, just a personal prefference. Im thinking of goin the widened stockies path.... Even sunrasias if i can get them wide enough with correct offset for desired fitment...

JDM is where my heart lies, my wallet is telling me otherwise.
