well it was all they had. imagine the revs you'd be doing with a 3 speed and 3.23s.

When they went to the 4 speed auto they had 3.23. As my EB1 S-pac was originally a 4 speed and 3.23 open wheeler. Until it went T5 and 3.89s 8-)

hmmmm

so it seems as if EF to AU have got 3.08s

Yet your old EB S -pac had a 3.23 open wheeler , does this mean most pov pack EB/EDs would have 3.23s ?

factory. 3.08 open wheeler

The S pac has shorter gears. I believe in the 3 speed EA days it has a 2.92 instead of 2.77

I had a 4/88 EA 'S' Pack sedan, it was T5, 2.92 LSD ( 2 pinion, 25 spline ), and MPFI ( it left the factory that way). The door trims were like taxi spec, no cloth inserts, no red piping on the seats, had a sports dash, low coolant light, low fuel light, low washer bottle water level light, a clock, a/c, Snow Flake 15" x 7" mags, and they had a lower suspension height, same as a Fairmont Ghia without self levelling rear suspension.

It did have a tag on the diff.....I still have the diff centre....it's going into an early Valiant diff housing with 4.11 Pintara gears.
I'm in the process of building a Nostalgia Drag car....225, 4sp, 4.11 LSD, 14 x 5 fronts, and 14 x 7 rears.....still collecting bits n pieces at the momment.
