Hey guys, my clutch pedal is beginning to bend at the pivot point due to high pressure of the clutch cable, anyway to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks
Brandon. |

Unfortunately, you'll have to pull the dash out to get to the pedal box. After you remove it, you'll need to get it repaired & strengthened. If you do a search, you'll find a few posts in here about repairs. Also check the firewall for any cracking where the cable goes through. Replace your clutch cable if it's frayed or worn. To reduce additional stress on the box/firewall, it should be lubed.
Here's one post: gearbox-suspension-brake-driveline-f4/pedal-box-strengthening-t38993.html

I think you will find it's more the left foot that kills the pedal box
But strengthening the firewall & throwing in a new cable won't help an old pedal box either. Yes unfortunately you have to take the dash out to remove the pedal box as is. Reinforce it. And should be right as rain for a long time.

Apparantly if you undo the dash bolts you should be able to move it enough to access the upper pedal box bolts, withought actually taking the dash out.

I hope EA-SPAC-88 didn't think I meant "take the dash out of the car completely". There's a few screws close to the windscreen that are a bit fiddley to remove. I ground down a right-angle allen key as I didn't have one that fitted.

Which still requires all the bolts come out. Not a 10 minute fix.

Well I was under the influence that the whole dash had to come out, but thanks for clarifying that it only has to be moved.
