Guys.
Was there ever a definitive answer to this question? - I have a set of EB Wheels (Similar to Snowflakes, Turboblades etc) with the long shank to retain the wheel. I want these wheels on my EL. They are a little special. Did anyone ever find a supplier of a nut that would just fit without modifying the wheel stud? OK - My wheels arent that similar - they are EB GT's, but I dont want to cut the stud, and Im not willing to just cut the end off the nut to make them fit either (yet) Nigel |

If your wheels are EBGT Rims, just use your EL Wheel Nuts.

I would however the el nuts lack the flange and the eb gt wheels have it. There has to be a more complete answer (I am considering an 11mm bit down the nut in a press to create clearance)

Genuine Castalloy wheels
 Uses this style of nut (same as EB, ED). Those nuts dont fit EF/L as the EF/EL Stud is longer

The wheel nuts are also taper so washers are out of the question
They're going on my previously i6 el (now with an xr8 185). I was hoping the answer was 'just go and get nuts from xxx but appears its not. I'm not willing to loose either of the original features (nut location or taper) |

I'm not willing to loose either of the original features (nut location or taper) still try the tyre shops,i got 2 sets of lock nuts with the same key sets.the washers will have the tapers on each side and the wheel nut slips thru,if not available,a machine shop could make them to suit.

Landcruiser. You only need the taper on the shoulder not the recess.

how long does the wheel nut need to be, and how wide is the extension to centre the wheel?

If you counter sink a screw, the screw is always in the centre of the hole. |

Metal is maleable. If there is room for the metal to displace to under load it may do that. So I want original design

soooo how wide is the shank?
its going to be near impossible to find a wheel nut that has the exact same size shank like pictured, and over 50mm long Last edited by FordFairmont on Wed Jun 06, 2012 9:34 pm, edited 1 time in total. |
