Hey guys,
I can buy an EA/EB complete T5 conversion including the pedalbox, bellhousing, tailshaft, computer and all the rest of the parts. I know the tailshaft and the computer would be useless to me, but what about the pedalbox and bellhousing. Would they fit my EL falcon? Would I have any trouble fitting the conversion to my car? or run into any other unwanted problems? Should I steer clear of an EA conversion? Cheers |

Do a search, this has been asked and answered a few times, but in brief the pedal box is not going to fit without modification. The tailshaft you have is fine, the box has a lower first gear which is OK for 3.08 diff but 3.45 might be a bit low. The flywheel is a 3 bolt clutch arrangement and slightly smaller and less strong than the EF but still ok for a standard motor. No syncros on reverse is the last thing worth noting.

i am doing the boxcar T5 into EF, at the moment (box only 5000km old, i know as it was from a mates car).
one thing i would suggest is getting an EF/L flywheel and clutch assembly, as it will be stronger. as for reverse shift to 5th then reverse doesnt crnch that way (from mem thats it) |

There are no synchro's on reverse in any of the T5 boxes. They are straight cut spur gears. When you select reverse, you are moving the reverse idler gear on a shaft into mesh. OK!!!!!

Yer, Ive read most posts on the conversions. As most people use/suggest the malwood clutch pin I wasnt sure if an EA pedal box would fit in the EL.
Thanks rushed, however as he is selling everything as is. ie. doesnt want to split it. So I will price a manual pedalbox (might be cheaper than clutch pin - dont know) and an EF/EL flywheel and clutch assembly tomorow. BTW would that include the clutch fork? |

DONT swap out the pedal box!!!!
i spent 40 mins on removing mine in 38' heat, gave up in disgust, 10 mins later the interior was back together. 10 mins after that i was on the phone to mal wood. naxt day i had the pin kit (god thats a cool little peice of engineering), took 2mins to install it, including figuring out how it worked/ it was built. takes a hole heap of fussing about out of the conversion. p.s. in the tech doco forum, theres a GREAT doco, on the manual conversion, that has been very helpfull to me. edit: ef/el flywheel is $220 from ford, clutch again $200>400, neither come with a clutch fork, the ea one will be fine. hope it helps |

I have an EA 5 speed in my EF
The pedal box in not the same. Your best option (as mentioned by everyone else) is the Mal wood kit. I removed the pedal box, and we welded in an escort clutch pedal pin. Bellhousing will fit. Tailshaft will not. The end that is closer to the diff is different. You will get away with the Automatic Tailshaft. As for the EA clutch/flywheel, I have had no probs with mine at all. I constantly thrash my car. I have had the conversion in for 30,000 kms I am not even running a high performance clutch.

yeah better off getting a Malwood Pin kit...it sounds so much friggen easier then what I just did and haven't completed. Changing over a whole pedal box on your own is harder then what I expected and without any light I was pretty much screwed. It is an easy task if you set aside a whole day to do it...easy but tedious. now I have friggen 20 mozzie bites. hope you have more luck then I.

So the Mel Wood pin eliminates the need to take out the pedal box to replace it with a manual pedal box right? So that you can mount a clutch to your auto pedal box? Am I confusing anyone?
Sorry if thats a stupid question but I'm confused. cheers, Nathan |

AHEM, the pedal box WILL fit.. you need to be a bit handy with the angle grinder...
I have a few pictures here from when I did it to the ef.. why pay for something you dont need to buy? The dash is not that hard to remove, my girlfriend helped me pull the dashboard out.
