A question regarding conversion the AUTO TCM unit sits were the clutch should be so i assume i would be removing it but do i trace the TCM loom and remove that aswell??

no voxaces is for an ef/el i have a 3.9 eb and like the boxcar EA>ED have a TCM module outside the ECU not in the ECU like the ef/el/au etc etc

Just searched the mods and came up trumps was reading something about the early boxcar falcons had a switch on the clutch pedal is this for manual in any way or for the cruise control????

i should take pictures of the manual pedal box to show what i mean....

With the TCM loom did people just put it neatly out of the way or followed it and removed it???? Did they cut it off? what did you guys do???

the switch on the clutch pedal is for the cruise control. Turns cruise off when you push the clutch in. You should have a similar one on the brake pedal so that when you brake the cruise shuts off. Clutch switch is good to have so that when you are doing 100kms and want to gear down before braking...your revs don't go psycho.

btw whats the TCM?

phong =P~

Transmission Control Module it controls the auto BTR 4speed Box like the EF onwards have all that jazz in the ecu i am getting confused with all the conflicting info from various modders like some people do the resistor trick BUT if i remove the TCM as a will to put my clutch pedal in surely it doesn't just flopp around behind the stero unit?? the guide states remove it and yeah i suppose i could all ways do what Voxace did in his guide and yea.

Just remove the TCM, you shouldn't have to worry about any resistors.

thanks voxace but will the EB start properly i read something on an older conversion around the net and they say something about cutting some wires near the relay boxes?

I don't know about any of that stuff, all I know is that the actual ECU itself is the same as a manual therefore won't need any 'tricking'.

Do as Dave suggested for the TCM - because he is correct. Cable tie the existing looms out of the way, don't cut them - they may come in handy in the future, if you want to add some mods that may need wiring behind the dash.

Starter wise, join the two starter relay wires on the inhibitor switch plug.

The switches for the peddles that turn the cruise off, are available from ford for around the $33 mark inc GST.

For my EB, i got part number EA 9C727A - called a Valve speed control in fords comp's. Now i just have to work out the wiring & vac lines for it. I was thinking of just splicing into the lines on the brake peddle switch, so peddle being pushed should trip the cruise to turn off.

Oh, regarding the TCM, i thought it was EB series II onwards had the ecu & tcm in the same unit, and it's those ECU's that need the tricking with resistors when converting the car to manual.

/me is loving my manual conversion. The EB Ghia should have been available as optional manual from the factory. All i need now, is the leather interia & sunroof. My mockup is getting closer to being like a real GT.

Cheers

The two wires you're after are in the rectangular plug - can't remember the colours.
Check with your wiring diagrams.
