I have what I suspect is an ED pedal box and after some research I have discovered that I can modify it to suit an EF but the detail is very thin. First I need to confirm it is an EA-ED and second I need to confirm what to modify.

The bracket circled in RED I assume is the hand brake bracket and I need to remove this?

The captive bolts circled in purple need to be removed and the holes enlarged to suit the different mounting of the steering column, correct?

Is there any other changes?

yeah you got an ea-ed box there

you can see the differences here (black ed, rust ef)

To make it fit into an EF you need to hack to top bolts out so the ones in the ef column can pass through

The hand brake bracket can be cut off or just bent out the way

Thanks stockstandard,
This might be a bonus anyway as I can mount a better brake switch instead of the failure prone EF one.

EA's are slightly different again. If you look on those pedal boxes I posted pics of you see that on the side of the box (inline with the brake pivot bar on the opposite side to the clutch) there are two holes. These are used to mount some of the electronics under the dash of the ef's but that part of the pedal box is missing on the ea's. You can still use it but you have to secure the electronics some other way (i.e. handful of cable ties).

Buggar, that makes mine an EA. I might pick up an Auto EF pedal box and move the brackets , pedals and shaft across.

The RHS of the large angled bracket with the three holes at the top of this picture looks different between ED and EF or is that just camera angle?

I picked up an Auto pedal box yesterday and installed a new clutch pedal shaft and transplanted the brackets from the EA pedal box.

File comment: While there I found a manual ED with the pedals still in there. When I went to remove it I was shocked to see the way it had been installed.
Someone had used threaded rod to install it. Anyway I now have a spare clutch and manual brake pedal.

sorry to thread mine a bit here guys,

but i am looking at getting an EB2 5 speed and swapping boxes with my EF auto.

Will the EF auto pedal box fit into the EB? and reading this, i should be able to just cut those holes at the top of the EB box and it'll fit the EF?

Is that correct?
