No there is a 4sp trans with an electronicly contolled 4th gear and the power button version too. it was mainly in 30th anaversery addition.

i dunno ford have been known to do some weird stuff... like put my gearbox computer inside my ECU computer.... and move the BEM from beside the stereo to under the center console which is a pain to connect back up

All the 4spds are electronic.
There were several models of 4 speeds but they were only revisions of the same box (variations in bearings, solenoids etc). The electronic control of them changed several times. For example, the early 4 speeds had a seperate tps and tcu where as on later models the tcu was integrated with the ecu and used a single tps. On EFs the normal/power modes were changed to economy/normal which for example meant that the tc would lokup up in 3rd instead of 4th under low loads. The box is still the same basic gearbox though, it is has just been 'tuned' differently.
