Just looking under my mates EA which was having some weird clunking/vibrating happenig underneath.
The rear uni jount seems to be completely shagged. Now It's a bit different to the EB setup, but you know how there's a steel bar being held in by 2 bearing cups (and this is how you undo it), well that steel bar has completely snapped. In fact the only thing holding the tailshaft to the yoke is a split pin. How should we fix this? New tailshaft, replace uni, or what? Cheers, Dave. |

Hmmm, just took the tailshaft off, and it's not broken I think.
Seems the bearing caps that sit on each end of the uni are just stuffed. I still think this would be the likely cause of the driveline cluncking though, so best to replace. |

do you mean clunks when going in gear?
like, my clunks when i DON'T apply the brake and put it in reverse... but if i apply brake, shift in to reverse it won't clunk... every other gear seem's fine. |

Nah, clunks when you apply then accelerator, or when you back off.
Also get some weird semi clunking/vibration thing happening when cruising with the clutch in. Fairly sure that's it, because it has a LOT of play, in all directions lol... |

k yeah so do you think it's the uni joints? any other ideas? i might change mine for the sake of getting rid of the clunk i sometimes get when i put it in r or d... but main concern right now is the consistent knocking (not 1 knock, but it's consistant knocks) when pulling up (braking or not, doesn't matter) so if I change the uni joint or whatever you said in the other thread, i hope it fix's it! it's driving me crazy

i checked my unit joints out today... if the 'any play in it' then it rooted? i can move it rotating wise and back a little bit... and sounds at the same time like gears ingaging or something...
hmmm and my bushes are screwed... like dried up, and cracked lol... time for nolathane now that i know what everything i need i checked again and there is the slightest movement of the uni joint and tail shaft |
