Hi everyone
I have been having some trouble with my EB series 2. The easiest way to put it is, its no longer kicking back in gears when floored, say i'm going 100kmh and floor it, it remains in 4th gear. If I switch the power button on it may kick back to third but never 2nd like it use to. Would this be related to the computer, or does it have a simple kick down cable? or?????? I have fairly recently had the auto fully serviced and apart from this problem is near on perfect. Thanks. |

not so likely...your throttle position sensor has moved or is f**k...
very likely...your throttle cable is most likely stretched (EA-EDs have this as a common problem)

The throttle cable is tight as, ie I just recently adjusted it. So I guess that pins it down to the throttle position sensor. How much will one of those set me back?

go 2 a wrecker... not much lol even though you have adjusted it... get a mate to floor it and see if you can push it any further..

Yeah na I had it so tight for a while it was idling at like 1500rpm so it has to be the throttle position sensor.

you can test the tps sensor.
Get a multi meter and test the voltage. Not sure if boxcars were different too the EF/EL's but the voltage should be between 0.55 - 0.85 volts on idle, and +4 volts in the fully open position. And look for smooth voltage transition as you open the butterfly in the throttle body Make sure you use the negative wire from the tps sensor for multimeter earth |

Thanks I will try that, I have a feeling I may have screwed it a while back when I pulled it off to clean a while back.
