Hi Guys,
I have a problem with my brothers EB where under hard braking it will dive to the left. Also, when moving from forwards to backwards the front Lower Control Arm Strut seems to move inside the kframe by 2-3mm, with the strut arm washer protuding 2-3mm past the bush. I am guessing these bushes are flogged and this is the reason for the braking problem. Would this mean the LCA bushes are stuffed also or do we just need to replace the LCA strut bushes? We don't have a press. Picture below from workshop manual to assist - area where I see the movement shown in red: Jason

Are you use the bolt is done up tight? I've seen them come loose and allow movement.
The bushes in an EB are a single piece rubber that you can easily knock out with a pole and a hammer. Replacement bushes are 2 piece, so go back in easily. You basically have to take the lower control arm out to get the radius rod out, so as long as your there, why not replace those bushes too. If you want to avoid the use of a press, I have some remanufactured Nolathane EB lower control arms at home with new bushes I'd be very happy to sell. Then you just need the radius rod bushes and it turns into an afternoon job. |
