Hey, I need to change the rear brake pads in my Dad's NC Fairlane, and I dont have the special Ford tool number E9324 as is listed in the workshop manual for winding the pistons back. How else can I go about this?
Cheers, Gab |

i always use a g clamp and the old pads to force the piston back in, never had a problem with it this way

i have done it with a g clamp but you need to remove the hand beake cable arm, you then put a socket big enough to go over the shaft at the rear of the caliper so the shaft can turn without touching the socket, you then put the g clamp on the piston and on the socket and wind it in..
it should go in and the shaft at the rear should turn inside the socket.. once the caliper is re fitted you may have to fiddle and rotate the shaft alittle bit to get it to the right point so the hand brake ratchets to the right spot.. otherwise you can buy the tool that rotates the piston from bursons, repco ect... |

Thats correct - XH uses EB Series Calipers (as does XG).
If you have the Umbrella Handbrake you need the tool. If you have the console mounted handbrake (Sedans) you do not Nigel |
