Guys the other day when I was having a hotdog replaced I decided to look at the tag on my diff, it said 3.27. Is this the standard fitted unit?? I looked in the threads and seen it should be 2.77?
Car is EB2 1992 Man wag- SORRY TO ALL YOU GUYS WHO HATE RE-THREADS but I cant find out for sure...

What do the ratios mean, say whats the diff from a 3.27 to a 3.45?? Any Advice appreciated. :?

3.27,3.45,2.77 are all diff ratios
the higher the number, the shorter the gears become eg
with a 2.77 1st gear will max out at 85km
with a 3.27 1st gear will max out at 78km
and with a 3.45 1st gear will max out at 70km and so on.
the higher the number, the better acceleration you would get. especially on take off

im pretty sure wagons didnt have a lsd option, check and make sure its a lsd, it should have a badge sayn limited slip diff or so on it.
or jack up both rear tires, spin one tire, if the other spins in the same direction youve got a lsd, if the other tire spins in the opposite direction youve got a single spinner

Yeah thanks. I am nearly 99% sure(as states in EB workshop Manual) that any eb fitted with ABS option back then, had to have an LSD. And she definently drops 2 lines *lol*
Yeah the wagon is manual, and first definently dont g to 78!!! It goes to 60-65km/h @ 5100rpm (as much as I care to take it!!!)

I done what you said, and it is definently an LSD. Can anyone confirm my information of a ABS equipped EB must have an LSD (STATED IN GREGORY'S MANUAL?)

Have a look under the front LHS wheel arch towards the front of the car and pull the covers off the inside of the guard and you should see a ABS Hydrolic Pump

it looks like this

or you can just do it the easy way and go down a gravel road and "safely" lock the tyres up........you'll know if you have abs or not!

Also to the best of my knowledge all manual EB2/ED came with 3.27, and generally only the Futura and Fairmont ect came std with abs, with the GLi's it may have been a option

cheers
Barnsy

Thanks Barnsy, but I know she has ABS. just wondering if all cars fitted with ABS had to have lsd....thats what the gregorys repair book states.

But since I had to have had hotdog replaced, and exhaust fitter told me definently LSD. Car is 1992 gli manual, abs, a/c and cruise optioned

maybe in a EB2, I can say with the ED the statement is false, I can say for a fact that a GLi did not come out with LSD or ABS standard on both the sedan and wagon, but it was an option according to the brochures from ford

is the car a GL or GLi, because the GLi only got released with the ED?

Actually they commenced being called gli's in EB2's.
Both my Cars are Eb2 gli's, I have a 1992 model manual(wagon), and a 1993 model auto (sedan)
The sedan is single spinner, for some reason the person who bought the wagon had it optioned up a bit. abs, 3.27 lsd, cruise, a/c.The reason is because, in the gregory's manual(read up if anyone has it) says LSD had to be installed in that model, if ABS was an option (eb2)

Thats right, in EB2 there was falcon S, no Futura-it commenced ED.

3.27 is the diff that ford put behind V8s in cars that are not xr8s (ebII and ed) 3.27 was also the optional lsd for I6s.
