Hello people this is my first post. a couple days ago i noticed a knocking noise coming from the front passenger side. if i push down on the guard u can hear the knock, once when i push down and once again when it comes back up.
Ive recently had new struts, upper ball joint and pads replaced on the front, ive looked over the whole front suspension and everything is tight, no movement at all, so nothing i can see is wrong with it.

Also the steering makes a shuddering sound when turning either way, but this only seems to happen when the car warms up and seems alot worse when turning at slow speeds, from 0 to 40k's.

Any help is much appreciated.

Sounds like it's the steering rack, or maybe the sway bar.

Cheers

Could be upper wishbone bushes, rack-ends, swaybar 'D' bushes.....need a look.

You've changed the upper ball joints? What about the lower ones? The lower ball joints carry all the weight...

As for the steering issue... The pump has plenty of fluid and makes no noises?

Yeh that just reminded me, i took a look at the steering rack while i had the car jacked up and got my old man to turn the wheel left to right and there is a clicking/knocking noise coming from where the column joins the rack and i can only feel it at that spot too, so what yas reckon that might be?

il have another closer look at that bottom ball joint, but pretty sure it seemed fine

a knackered bottom ball joint will give you a fairly definite deep clunk sound... But if you can make it happen by pushing up and down... it may not be... Usually happens when the weight of the car comes off that corner and the wheel drops with play and you get the clunking...

Yeh the fluid is like 1mm under full hot both times ive checked after driving the last 2 days and there is no noticable noise from the pump itself, no leaks either.

Have you checked your link rod pins??
That may be your clunk.
Also the shuuder & noise in the rack may be cavitation in the pump & rack.
Try bleeding it out by doing sone figure 8 turns.

Check the pin that holds the column & it's uni joint to the rack is in nice & tight. 10mm nut iirc. If it's not, you will get noise there. The uni joint could also be worn out.

Cheers

Sounds like a falcon
If you wanna stop it replace every ball joint. Bush and link in the front end. Haha.

Have you jacked up the front wheels one at a time and made sure its not a bj or tierod end. Or did you just look at them. Looking at them won't tell you anything.
