im just after the fors and against ebc's... im about to start towing my boat a s**t load, so ill be needing good brakes.
i have heard greenstuff make fantastic pads, so was thinking of getting them F+R, as well as new discs. only questions that remain are: What discs to use? i want slotted, not drilled, and are any other pad better?

For the pads is that they work very well and have less wear than other performance pads. They are a bit more expensive and that is about all for the negative on them.
I would only get slotted rotors for the brakes. You will have plenty of braking power with slotted rotors and EBC Greenstuff pads. While your chaning the rotors it would be a good idea to change all the wheel bearings as well. Cheers |

agreed, as with Timmeh.
Consider Lucas brand pads as well, I love 'em, dusty as all f**k, but they pull up harder than Greenstuff. Depends what you're after. BTW: I run DBA slotteds.

Lucas Pads are not nice on the discs - Shredded mine.

Used:
-variety of bendix = dusty, ruin my rotors.. -stock pads = worst by far, dusty, harsh on rotors and dont last long at all! -ebc greenstuff = good for normal to heavy road use, not best for track as they have other range for this. Price is pretty out there, but you can get them for good prices if u try. Ive heard (not by my use) that ceramic pads do awesome things for braking perfotmance, clostly tho. If you want unreal stopping power do total upgrade, calipers, rotors, pads, fluid n bearings of course.. whole upgrade package, like the ones offered by brembo n PBR.

Cheers considering that i have an au2 with barely 90,000 km on the clock, i dont think rotors will need to be changed. i was thinking the slotted with ebc, i think you cant go wrong! eventually ill get a ba brembo kit, but that will have to be after the 18's come. for now, i need something that will stop me and my boat on the highway

I've got EBC green & RDA slotted rotors
Been told by lots of auto places that DBA rotors don't work with EBC The greens aren't as bad as ceramics when cold but still don't have alot of bite until they have warmed up a little - a couple intersections would be enough As far as dust goes - very slight to moderate but that can be eliminated or reduced. I'm sure there is better but I am very happy with them.

Probably a RDA dealer lol I have DBA slotted on the front, RDA slotted rear and EBC pads all round. f**k sweet for what they are. Still get shat on by a twin piston setup but meh its a taxi

DBA themselves stated this as well as many EBC supply shops I spoke with
maybe DBA have updated their rotors Anyhow glad you like them old mate

i have been running the greenstuf pads with dba x-drilled and slotted rotors and they work great, i have had this setup for a about 6 months now

ACT Brakes sold me some front RDA slotted discs, with some QFM (Queensland Friction Material) pads. Front rotors and pads, wheel bearings, rear rotors machined and QFM pads, bleed and flush, labour for $760.
They told me the following: RDA rotors are slotted to the edge, DBA are not. Built up gas escapes better when slotted to the edge. EBC pads are good for constent hard driving, but glaze over if you don't go hard *ALL* the time. QFM pads incredibly gentle on the rotors, and are the pad of choice for the cabbies. Apparently Motocraft pads and rotors are made by PBR under licence, and reboxed. Time will tell. Dang. |

Thats why you get slotted rotors...to prevent glazing of your pads. I'll be buying DBA4000 front slotters soon and RDA slotted for the rears. But daniel, what are these upgrade kits you're speaking of by pbr and brembo?

I fitted new Bendix Ultimate pads on all 4 wheels at the same time as new slotted DBA front rotors. The Ultimates were nothing special for performance, were worn out after 12 months (~30000km), made s**t loads of dust and chewed the crap outof my new rotors.
I then fitted EBC Green Stuff pads all round - they feel noticeably better than the Ultimates did, they produce a fraction of the dust and niether the pads nor the rotors look to my naked eye to have worn appreciably in 12 months!!! (ie. the pads look like new and the rotors look same as when the Ultimates were changed out). I also have to say that I previously had Green Stuffs with new drilled and slotted DBA rotors - that combo worked even better than the slotted only rotors - BUT - I got shuddering under light braking after only a few 1000 km and then the rotors developed heaps of cracks all over them (out of pretty much every single hole). I threw the lot in the tip and that's when I went to Ultimates and just slotted rotors etc.... I've been told by a guy who owns a Monaro that when he got the "Factory Upgrade" package it included "a 30% improvement in braking" which simply came down to EBC Green Stuff pads being fitted. He also said that he and others with Monaros that have that upgrade suffer from slight shuddering under light braking - they just accept it as part of the trade off for their extra performance. He races his car at club meets. My current Green Stuffs don't shudder at all tho.

My DBAs are definately slotted all the way to the edge, And they're not new, nearly need replacing now.
