Car wont change into drive when driving. 1st 2nd 3rd all work fine but wont automatically change into drive also noticed the idle has dropped. Any ideas would be welcome.

I checked the transmisson dip stick and it was showing add 1/2 a Litre, after top up it now changes into drive fine. I didn't realise half a litre could make such a difference.
