Tried a search, but came up inconclusive.

Our old ED s**t is about to head up to Coffs on a road trip, and I suspect the transmission isn't full. Can anyone show me a photo or describe of where the dipstick is on it? I stuck my head under and can't find it, although it is quite possible it's hidden behind the exhaust.

Trans is the BTR 4 speed, by the way.

Cheers.

Open up the hood, standing at the front of the car,
and its on the left hand side at the back of the engine bay.

My EB has a yellow nob on top of the dipstick.

(Must have been typing at the same time as above)

if you can't find the dipstick, i don't like your chances of determining whether the box has enough fluid or not

The knob looked red, but sort of faded/burned/been in engine bay with hood not opened since '93 red colour.

The fluid was red looking (so I have reason to believe it is relatively new, and that the slipping gear on cold nights is much more serious), but it was a waste of my time, because the car was parked on a slope, facing downhill anyway. BUT, it's only got to make a ~600km trip to Coffs, and then it's not our problem anymore. Just it's gonna suck towing a coon with a Mazda B2600...

Reason I had to ask, is I am more used to the EL engine bay, from which the trans. dipstick is not present! BUT, gotta learn hese things, and I don't own a haynes manual yet. And I won't until I get me a car, obviously.
